WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC ?
It’s the second-largest and fastest growing primary health-care profession in
the United States. This year it’s estimated that over 30 million people will
take advantage of this safe and effective form of mainstream health care.
Today, doctors of chiropractic are primary health-care providers. Virtually all major commercial health insurance carriers include chiropractic in their policies – and many major industrial employers offer it as part of their health plans.
Since 2700 BC, healers have employed the concepts behind the science of modern chiropractic. Historians believe spinal manipulation was practiced by many of the world’s ancient civilizations. Even the celebrated Greek physician Hippocrates is known to have touted the importance of spinal manipulation in health and healing. In 1913 the first state law licensing chiropractic was passed. Today all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia recognize chiropractic as safe, effective health care.
